‘Where can I find an orthodontist near me?’, ‘When can I sort out my crooked teeth?’, ‘When can I start my brace treatment?’ ‘Do you accept insurance cover for my brace treatment?’

These are all questions that you might ask when you are looking to have brace treatment known technically as  orthodontics, for yourself or for your child/children.

You can start by asking your general dentist or you can refer yourself by contacting the practice or office. You an also ask your colleagues, friends or people you know if they can recommend a professional especially if they had treatment themselves.

At Ely Smiles, we provide treatment to patients of all ages however for young adults we prefer to start treatment when they are between 10 and 13 years of age. This would allow them to have their full adult dentition established and will prevent them from having treatment for a very long time. The average duration for the completion of orthodontic treatment is 2 to 3 years. There are occasions when we prefer to offer treatment earlier to address specific conditions.

In the case of adults, age is not a factor on which we base our decision on whether we can offer treatment or not. The health of your teeth and gums is more important and age is not a limiting factor at all.

At Ely Smiles, we offer all types of specialist dental services including orthodontics to address any teeth straightening, bite problems and jaw disharmonies. Should you need another type of specialty such as endodontics for root canal therapy, periodontics for gum management, oral surgery for surgical procedures or implant treatment, we can offer this together with any orthodontic treatment that you need at any stage depending on your needs.

Can I have brace treatment again as one of teeth have moved?

It is very normal for teeth to move even though your treatment would have been carried out to a very high standard.  Fortunately there is no limit to the number of times you have orthodontic treatment and you can opt to have treatment to correct a mild relapse. It is extremely rare for teeth to move to the original position and usually the moment is minimal and the time needed for treatment is much less than for the original treatment.
